Want to go vegan, but don’t know where to start? Tried going vegan and it hasn’t stuck? We are here to help!
First of all- don’t be hard on yourself! You are embarking on a whole new lifestyle change (well done by the way!). Our top tip if you are transitioning to go vegan is this: start slow and implement vegan foods and meals into your lifestyle. It’s ok to stumble, just remember why you have decided to go vegan whether that be for sustainability reasons, love for animals or the planet (all three for us!).
Our other top tip is find delicious vegan alternatives to foods you love. There are SO many alternatives out there, and while it can take your taste-buds a little time to adjust, rest assured they will – especially if you find the new, exciting and innovative gems popping up all throughout supermarkets! For cheese Lauds (of course!), we have so many different versatile cheeses to choose and use. There are lots of other delicious sustainable vegan cheese businesses out there as well such as Artisa, Hello Friend Foods and Dilectio– we suggest to try and see what you like! Find alternatives to meats such as vegan mince, burgers, Schnitzels, Shitake mushroom chunks (our fave!), Asian mock duck or chicken (made from soy protein or seitan). Or make your own seitan (wheat meat) from the plethora of recipes from clever plant-based people online. Vegan food is delicious and most of the time non-vegans wont know the difference! Nowadays head into any grocer and you are bound to find a delicious trolley load of vegan food.
We also believe that surrounding yourself with other vegans is so important too! Find a local vegan group, there is bound to be a Facebook community group in your local area, just have a search and see. And don’t forget to follow a bunch of vegan foodies too. Here are some of our favourites:
